WISeKey SEALSQ Year of Quantum Security At Davos 2026

WISeKey SEALSQ

At the 2026 World Economic Forum in Davos, SEALSQ and WISeKey International Holding Ltd officially inaugurated the “Year of Quantum Security”, signalling a massive shift in how global leaders perceive technological threats. This project elevates quantum-resistant infrastructure above the long-standing emphasis on artificial intelligence as the most pressing strategic objective in the globe.

The Looming “Encryption Breaker”

The potential and dangers of generative AI dominated the international conversation at Davos for a number of years. The “vulnerability of everything,” however, has become the focus of a shift in 2026 as quantum computing advances from a theoretical idea to a real-world use.

Cryptographic standards like RSA and ECC, which are based on mathematical puzzles that would take centuries for classical computers to solve, are the foundation of modern digital security. These safeguards could be broken in a matter of seconds by a potent quantum computer employing Shor’s Algorithm. Over 95% of all internet traffic worldwide is at risk from this attack, including banking transactions, state secrets, and power grid control systems.

The “Harvest Now, Decrypt Later” approach was one of the most pressing issues raised. This entails enemies intercepting and storing encrypted data now with the goal of unlocking it when quantum machines are strong enough to crack existing encryption. Carlos Moreira, the CEO of WISeKey and SEALSQ, cautioned that leaders risk irreparable harm to digital trust if they wait for “Quantum Day” to happen.

Advancements in Post-Quantum Hardware

SEALSQ and WISeKey demonstrated a number of deployable Post-Quantum (PQ) solutions intended to provide a “Seamless Trust Architecture” to counter these attacks.

  • The QS7001 Chip: NIST-approved post-quantum cryptography (PQC) methods are integrated directly into the silicon of this new generation of quantum-resistant semiconductors. Devices become “secure by design” against both conventional and quantum attacks by protecting the hardware “root of trust” during manufacturing. These chips are designed for a variety of applications, ranging from military-grade gear to smart meters.
  • Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC): These are novel methods created to fend against attacks by both classical and quantum computers.
  • Quantum Key Distribution (QKD): This technology detects any eavesdropping or interception during the encryption key exchange by using the laws of quantum physics.

The Machine Economy and the Orbital Frontier

The presentation of SEALCOIN, the first space-based, quantum-resistant transaction platform in history, was one of the Davos event’s main highlights.
This technology makes use of the low-Earth-orbit (LEO) satellite constellation of WISeSat to enable blockchain-based transactions that avoid susceptible terrestrial networks. These satellites may create quantum-resistant digital signatures while in space, guaranteeing the security and digital sovereignty of the emerging “Machine Economy” in which billions of IoT devices exchange data on their own.

Robotics and the “Human-AI-T” Manifesto

The WISeRobot provided a tangible example of how AI, robotics, and security intersect. A major safety problem is making sure autonomous systems stay under human control when they are incorporated into urban infrastructure, healthcare, and defense. To prevent hackers from taking over autonomous machines through quantum breaches, the WISeRobot Proof of Concept demonstrated how a robot’s identity can be anchored in a quantum-secure chip.

The firms unveiled the Human-AI-T Manifesto concurrently with these technological advancements. According to this program, which is headed by futurist David Fergusson, trust needs to be manufactured rather than assumed in a time when AI, space, and quantum technologies are merging. The manifesto places a high priority on ethical governance and human dignity, guaranteeing that even as robots gain power, people will continue to be the last arbiters of control.

A Global Strategic Roadmap

The “Year of Quantum Security” involves high-level strategic engagements across multiple international forums to bolster digital sovereignty:

ForumFocus Area
Choose France PlatformDeveloping secure semiconductors in France to strengthen European sovereignty.
Monaco InnovationExploring quantum-safe identities for luxury goods and high-security document verification.
India Technology ForumsImplementing quantum-ready infrastructure in the world’s fastest-growing digital economy.
Cybersecurity Tech AccordCollaborating with a growing ecosystem of partners to protect the post-quantum era.

A Global Strategy for 2026

Beyond Davos, the “Year of Quantum Security” is bolstered by a $200 million investment roadmap and international strategic partnerships. SEALSQ and WISeKey took part in a number of high-level forums during the week, including:

  • The Choose France Platform: This platform aims to improve European digital sovereignty by producing safe semiconductors in France.
  • Monaco Innovation Initiatives: Investigating high-security document verification and quantum-safe identities for luxury items.
  • India-Focused Technology Forums: emphasizing the necessity of quantum-ready infrastructure in quickly expanding digital economy.

In Conclusion

The shift to post-quantum cryptography is a multi-year undertaking that needs to be funded right away. Governments and businesses have been urged by SEALSQ and WISeKey to inventory critical data and quickly identify systems that are at risk.

Carlos Moreira came to the conclusion that action must be taken by 2026. The objective is to guarantee that the Fourth Industrial Revolution is not only linked but also impervious to the quantum curve by offering the means to safeguard the hardware level and the satellite networks above.
