QuiX Quantum Hires Robin Wittland as CCO for Global Strategy

The European leader in photonic quantum computing, QuiX Quantum, has announced the hiring of Robin Wittland as its new Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), marking a dramatic shift from laboratory-led research to aggressive commercial deployment. Wittland will lead the company’s worldwide commercial strategy starting on 2026, with an emphasis on revenue growth, strategic alliances, and customer development as it moves into the next stage of industrial scale.

The hiring is essential for the company and European quantum scene. With more than 15 clients globally, QuiX Quantum’s customer base is continually expanding. This accomplishment validates the technology beyond the earliest stages of research and development and sets it up for widespread implementation. Wittland’s position is crucial to the company’s relevance in government-backed quantum programs because this commercial drive is taking place as Europe increases its strategic investments in quantum infrastructure and sovereign technological capabilities.

A Veteran Leader for a High-Tech Frontier

With more than 25 years of senior leadership expertise in a variety of technological domains, including software, hardware, and deep-tech industries, Robin Wittland joins QuiX Quantum. His experience is particularly well-suited to the difficulties of growing a quantum computing company. Wittland most recently created the business strategy for neutral-atom quantum computing while working as CCO at planqc.

Significant stints at well-known industrial players and international tech behemoths are also listed on Wittland’s resume. He held senior leadership positions at Microsoft where he oversaw the expansion and go-to-market execution of the Cloud Productivity and Mobility business. In addition, he held leadership roles including CMO and CDO during his twenty years at WORTMANN AG, where he spearheaded major partner expansion and commercial transformation.

Wittland combines “deep enterprise sales experience with a strong understanding of complex technology markets,” according to QuiX Quantum CEO Stefan Hengesbach, who highlighted the significance of this background. Hengesbach pointed out that transforming Wittland’s technological supremacy into long-term, sustainable market positions would require the company’s experience of developing growth strategies in competitive circumstances.

The Photonic Advantage: Scalability and Room-Temperature Operation

Marketing QuiX Quantum’s “highly differentiated position” in the quantum industry will be the main focus of Wittland’s commercial responsibility. In contrast to other rivals that concentrate on superconducting qubits, which necessitate drastic, energy-intensive cooling to virtually absolute zero, QuiX Quantum’s photonic computers can function nearly fully at ambient temperature. This technological decision provides a clear route to energy efficiency and scalability by doing away with the necessity for expensive and complicated cooling systems.

The company’s universal photonic quantum computing platform is built for expansion and versatility in High-Performance Computing (HPC) and hybrid datacenter settings. QuiX Quantum is developing a system that is intrinsically infrastructure-ready by using low-loss photonic processors and CMOS-compatible silicon nitride photonic integrated circuits. “Hybrid quantum-classical computing” is made possible by this method, which gets over the laboratory-only restrictions that are frequently connected with conventional quantum hardware.

“QuiX Quantum has built a highly differentiated position the opportunity now is to translate that position into scalable customer relationships, strategic partnerships, and sustainable growth,” Wittland said in reference to the change in the industry’s focus.

A Momentum-Driven Strategy

Wittland joins the Enschede-based company following several successes. The company obtained €15 million in Series A funding in July 2025 from Invest-NL and the EIC Fund to build the first universal quantum computer based on a single photon by 2026. Before this investment, the European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator program supported the company’s participation in the European Commission’s plan to disrupt markets with transformational technology.

In recent months, QuiX Quantum’s collaborative ecology has evolved rapidly:

  • Italy’s Q-Alliance: To promote Italy’s National Quantum Technology Strategy, the corporation joined this partnership in March 2026 to construct a quantum hub.
  • ARENA2036: QuiX Quantum just joined this research center, contributing its photonic technology to the Dutch-German ecosystem.
  • Strategic Partnerships: The company has teamed up with Fermioniq and Deltares to apply quantum solutions to hydrology and water management, and with Artilux to promote energy-efficient computing.
  • Defense Innovation: By demonstrating the security and strategic uses of its gear, the company was chosen for the Purple NECtar Defense Innovation Challenge.

Strengthening the Foundation for Growth

Since Wittland took over, QuiX Quantum has strengthened its leadership. Two experienced businesspeople, Richard Moulds and Rob Hays, joined the company’s board on March 18, 2026. This board enlargement and the new CCO provide a leadership team that can navigate the transition from a “fabless model built on a pan-European supply chain” to a worldwide corporation.

Wittland’s immediate priorities at QuiX Quantum will be growing the business and strengthening ties with the government and business community. The business base he establishes will be essential for converting photonic leadership into a commanding market share in the developing quantum economy as the enterprise advances toward fault tolerance and usefulness.

QuiX Quantum is establishing itself as the pillar of European quantum sovereignty with operations in Enschede, Amsterdam, Ulm, and Stuttgart. Wittland’s addition implies that the company is developing a worldwide enterprise rather than merely producing computers.
