Qilimanjaro Quantum & Qblox Partner To Deploy DAQC Systems

Increasing Strategic Cooperation to Promote Hybrid Digital-Analog Quantum Computing in Europe, Qilimanjaro and Qblox

Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech and Qblox are accelerating the rollout of powerful digital-analog quantum computing (DAQC) devices across Europe after extending their strategic cooperation. This partnership, which builds on BSC work, is crucial. The incorporation of these technologies into Qilimanjaro’s upcoming Hybrid Quantum Data Centre in Barcelona, which is set to open this November, is the immediate goal of this increased synergy.

The development of hybrid quantum computers is the primary motivation behind Qilimanjaro’s approach. These systems are made to integrate digital processors built on European superconducting technology with the company’s unique characteristic analogue processors. Building scalable and dependable systems is made possible by the basic synergy between Qblox’s sophisticated control stacks and Qilimanjaro’s quantum computers. Both on-premise integration with High-Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructure and cloud services are planned ways to make these systems accessible to end users.

The deployment of these integrated technologies in Qilimanjaro’s Hybrid Quantum Data Centre, which will subsequently be made available as a cloud service, is a significant result of this partnership. For the first time, both digital superconducting quantum computers and analogue quantum computers will be made accessible under a single, unified platform and software environment, marking a significant global milestone.

Building on Success at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center

The expanded collaboration is based on a solid foundation of previous work at the BSC in quantum computer integration. At this top HPC facility, Qilimanjaro has played a key role in spearheading the integration of superconducting quantum systems. The business has effectively positioned its state-of-the-art quantum technology next to MareNostrum 5, one of the most potent supercomputers in the world.

There are already noticeable outcomes from this earlier stage of collaboration. At the moment, the centre has two digital quantum computers running under the Quantum Spain initiative. Additionally, the EuroQCS-Spain project is actively moving forward with the integration of an analogue quantum computer. With the complete installation of this analogue system, a major European first will be reached: it will be the first time that digital and analogue quantum computers using superconducting technology work simultaneously and side by side in a high-performance computing environment.

Executive Perspectives on Hybrid Systems and Broad Access

The leaders of the two cooperating organizations underscored the significant influence of this enlarged collaboration on technology and accessibility.

According to Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech CEO Marta P. Estarellas, “opening quantum technology to end users” is made easier by collaborating with Qblox. The company’s primary objective of providing “real impact across both industry and research” and guaranteeing “broad access through with quantum data centers” were emphasized by her.

The unique position of Qilimanjaro in the global quantum landscape was praised by Niels Bultink, CEO of Qblox, who stated that the company is “uniquely positioned globally, with expertise in both digital and analogue quantum computing.” The “longstanding partnership is key to Qblox’s mission of advancing the customers towards industrial-scale quantum computing,” he confirmed, adding that the two businesses have “demonstrated it can build the world’s most advanced hybrid systems” together.

Driving European Quantum Sovereignty

The choice to broaden this partnership is in line with Europe’s broader goal of achieving quantum sovereignty. The cooperation directly advances this objective through a number of national and EU-level programs, including ImpaQT. In these collaborative endeavors, Qblox contributes its internationally renowned control stack knowledge, while Qilimanjaro capitalizes on its strengths in hybrid quantum computing development. The goal of this joint resource pool is to strengthen Europe’s position as a leader in the development of this ground-breaking sector.

In-Depth Look at the Collaborators

About Qilimanjaro: Qilimanjaro is a quantum computing startup based in Barcelona that was founded in 2019 with the goal of accelerating the deployment of practical quantum computers. The creation of its “signature analogue quantum chips” is the main way the business does this. Qilimanjaro uses fluxonium analogue qubits to construct full-stack quantum computers. By deliberately avoiding the conventional need for error correction, this innovative architecture opens the door to faster and more scalable solutions. It is well known that analogue quantum systems offer short-term benefits in important computational domains such as artificial intelligence (AI), optimization, and simulation.

In these domains, digital quantum processing units (QPUs) may otherwise face constraints or need significant operational costs.

To increase instant access to quantum computing resources, Qilimanjaro uses a dual technology approach. The SpeQtrum QaaS platform, which offers remote access to hybrid quantum data centers that efficiently integrate analogue, digital, and classical computing resources, is the initial component of this plan. The second section covers the company’s on-premise systems, which are designed for HPC centres and research institutes and provide full-stack and flexible quantum integration for both analogue and digital QPUs.

About Qblox: Qblox is actively driving the quantum revolution and is acknowledged as the world leader in scalable quantum control. In order to enable researchers and engineers to build high-performance, reliable, and scalable quantum systems, the company specializes in supplying the necessary control and readout engine. Leading academic and business leaders worldwide rely on Qblox to set the standard for quantum control and provide the fundamental framework required for this new computing era.
