Qilimanjaro 2025: Advances in Multimodal Quantum Computing

Qilimanjaro, a quantum technology company, accomplished a number of significant milestones in 2025 that were centered on their novel fluxonium qubit architecture, which offers exceptional stability and error reduction. By establishing the first multimodal Quantum Data Center in Europe in Barcelona, the company increased its hardware capabilities by fusing high-performance classical resources with digital and analog computers. They introduced QiliSDK, an open-source software toolkit made to help researchers and developers with hybrid quantum workflows, to enable this infrastructure.

Strategic collaborations with organizations such as CERN and Hospital del Mar have shown how useful their technologies are in a variety of domains, from medical surgery scheduling to particle physics. The effective deployment of quantum systems through large European innovation initiatives and the substantial team growth facilitated these technological achievements. In the end, the combination of proprietary software, cutting-edge chip design, and cloud-based access cemented Qilimanjaro’s position as a pioneer in hybrid quantum computing.

European Innovation’s New Home

In Barcelona’s 22@ innovation neighborhood, Qilimanjaro opened its groundbreaking multimodal Quantum Data Center, marking the year’s most noticeable milestone. In addition to being a laboratory, this building has a strong infrastructure that can accommodate up to ten quantum computers. Users can match particular computing problems with the most efficient hardware available because of the center’s integration of analog and digital superconducting processors with traditional High-Performance Computing (HPC) resources.

This move strengthens European technical sovereignty and establishes Catalonia as a quantum research hotspot. Universities, research facilities, and enterprises studying chemistry, AI, and materials science can use SpeQtrum Quantum-as-a-Service (QaaS) to access the facility.

The Machine’s Heart: Fluxonium

Qilimanjaro’s hardware success is mostly due to the fluxonium qubit. Although several rivals use the more popular transmon qubit, Qilimanjaro’s architectural decision has paid off in terms of accuracy and stability. The company’s 2025 evaluation claims that fluxonium provides more stability and cleaner control, leading to calculations with a lot less noise and errors.

This year, a notable technical accomplishment was the proof of coherence at the millisecond scale. This lifetime is one of the longest documented for superconducting qubits, and it offers a very strong basis for hybrid (digital-analog) and scalable analog systems. The business published QiliSDK, an open-source Python framework, to go along with this hardware. By functioning as a “unified software stack,” this toolkit enables developers to manage circuits and Hamiltonians in a single environment while switching between CPU, GPU, and QPU backends with ease.

National Initiatives and Strategic Infrastructure

In 2025, Qilimanjaro’s public-private relationships flourished with the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC). The company’s EuroQCS project installed an analog quantum computer at the BSC and upgraded its cryogenic equipment and shielding.

At the same time, the Quantum Spain project began its last stage of delivery. With this project, two digital quantum computers with 20–30 qubits will be installed at the BSC. The BSC is on target to run three quantum machines in total, two digital and one analog, with these efforts advancing the idea that quantum computing can be used as a specialized accelerator for applications requiring supercomputing power.

Measurable Effects: From Public Health to High-Energy Physics

Qilimanjaro collaborated with internationally recognized universities to show the technology’s usefulness outside of the lab.

  • Using a wholly analog technique called “Quantum Reservoirs,” Qilimanjaro supported track reconstruction for the ATLAS detector in High-Energy Physics with CERN in collaboration with the Open Quantum Institute. Analog systems can manage the rigorous inference tasks needed in particle physics, as demonstrated by this collaboration’s exploration of Quantum Extreme Learning Machines for image categorization.
  • Healthcare with Hospital del Mar: The business tackled public health operational obstacles in Barcelona. The partnership increased surgical capacity by 30% by using quantum optimization to optimize medicinal materials, drug-design workflows, and operation scheduling. The work produced two patents, and this efficiency boost directly decreased saturation in patient recovery units.

Global Reach and Ecosystem Development

The company has grown internally at a similarly quick pace. This year, the team grew to 74 professionals, giving it the scientific depth needed to oversee its “full-stack” approach. With Qilimanjaro employees attending 78 international events, such as the MWC Barcelona, the APS March Meeting, and the International Year of Quantum, this knowledge was shared globally.

The company’s reach has also been increased through strategic alliances. Deeply ingrained in the European ecosystem, Qilimanjaro has worked with Qblox on control systems and joined the IMPAQT collaboration in Delft as its sole hybrid full-stack integrator. Additionally, it has collaborated with the GSMA Quantum Network Services working group to assist influence how quantum infrastructure will develop in the future.

Looking Toward 2026

As 2025 draws to a close, Qilimanjaro is getting ready to expand the use of its SpeQtrum platform, which will enable digital, analog, and hybrid processing for a worldwide user base. The company’s successful transition from theoretical concepts to multi-qubit systems installed in supercomputing centers has established a solid basis for the “next stage of our journey” in 2026.
