QSECDEF Announces Global Quantum Security Symposium

QSECDEF Announces Global Quantum Security Symposium

The world is speeding up towards the Quantum-AI era, which presents an unparalleled security challenge: protecting enterprise, defense, and vital global communications infrastructure from the impending threat of quantum computing. The Quantum Security Defense (QSECDEF) organization has announced the commencement of its premier event, the Quantum Security Defence World Symposium.

The first symposium, which is framed as a critical time for global security, will bring together a critical mass of leaders from industry, government, and the worldwide research community. The main goal of the event is to expedite the development and implementation of reliable, quantum-secure communication and infrastructure solutions so that they are ready for the introduction of cryptographically relevant quantum computers (CRQCs). The symposium will be held as a major component of the Upperside World Congress at the esteemed Palais des dé of Paris.

The Imminent Threat and the Strategy of Collection

The theoretical threat of quantum computers cracking current public-key encryption, the cornerstone of contemporary digital security, is rapidly turning into a real, measurable concern, which is why the conference is so urgent. The big prime numbers that presently protect everything from financial transactions and vital national infrastructure to military intelligence and encrypted communications can be factored by algorithms like Shor’s algorithm. The security community frequently refers to this impending technical turning point as “Q-Day” or “Y2Q”.

But the threat is not limited to the future; “Harvest Now, Decrypt Later” is a very risky habit that is already in full swing. Today, adversaries around the world are gathering enormous amounts of encrypted data with the intention of storing it until CRQCs are developed enough to decrypt the intercepted communications in the future. To achieve cryptographic agility, a rapid, extensive migration and rework are required in response to this strategic danger.

The CEO of QSECDEF, Anna Beata Kalisz Hedegaard, stressed the urgency of taking immediate action, pointing out that the quantum age “is no longer a distant horizon” and is coming “faster than most organizations are prepared for.” She emphasised that the security frameworks that organizations currently use will soon become outdated due to the convergence of AI and quantum computing. Hedegaard reaffirmed that the purpose of QSECDEF is to guarantee that governments, businesses, and suppliers can manage this crucial shift with “clarity, confidence, and collaboration,” seeing the Paris symposium as an important turning point in uniting the international community to get ready.

Solutions on the Agenda: PQC and QKD

The goal of the QSECDEF symposium is to offer quick, workable solutions rather than just talking about the issue. Demonstrating deployable quantum-secure solutions, providing strategic direction for transition roadmaps, and creating unambiguous certification pathways will be the main objectives. The most delicate areas of the global economy, such as finance, telecoms, defense, and large enterprise networks, will be represented among the audience.

Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) and Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) are the two main pillars of quantum-safe security that provide the framework of the technical agenda.

Developing new mathematical methods that can withstand quantum attacks while operating on conventional computers is known as post-quantum cryptography, or PQC. The foundation of future digital trust is the work being done by institutions like the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in the United States, which is responsible for choosing and standardizing these next-generation algorithms. Technical seminars at the Paris event will be devoted to the real-world use of these new PQC standards, including how to incorporate them into legacy systems, software updates, and hardware manufacturing processes. The difficulty of implementing a worldwide “crypto-agile” overhaul the crucial capacity to swiftly and smoothly replace cryptographic algorithms will be a major concern for CISOs and CTOs.

Using the principles of quantum physics, Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) provides a physical layer security solution that guarantees safe key exchange. For geographically constrained, high-value links, QKD offers a “unbreakable” key distribution technique, despite its existing range limitations and high cost. By analyzing the most recent developments, such as QKD’s integration with satellite and terrestrial networks, and offering the financial rationale required to enable mass deployment beyond proof-of-concept, the sessions will seek to close the gap between theoretical promise and commercial reality.

QSECDEF’s Global Role and International Collaboration

QSECDEF, a global advisory and membership network devoted solely to protecting the supply chain for quantum technologies, is leading the conference. In order to guarantee that the adoption of quantum technology is “trusted, secure, and unstoppable,” QSECDEF, which has more than 1,000 members worldwide, links suppliers, government policymakers, researchers, and businesses.

The annual symposium’s strategic depth is greatly influenced by QSECDEF’s year-round operations. In addition to the event, the network offers its members access to a wealth of resources, including as weekly webinars facilitated by experts on “Quantum Innovation” and advisory services centred around global standards, procurement, and technology roadmaps. Along with access to specialized training courses, it also offers help on company risk assessment and policy design for attaining quantum preparedness. QSECDEF is actively forming the secure quantum supply chain that is necessary for the upcoming digital era by mobilizing this global ecosystem.

The selection of Paris as the host city emphasises how important Europe is to this shift. Major world powers, such as China, the United States, and the European Union, are investing billions in the development of quantum computing and accompanying quantum-safe countermeasures, making the quantum race a well-established geopolitical rivalry.

A vital, impartial forum for discussion on global standards and regulatory harmony will be offered by the QSECDEF event. Even though NIST is spearheading PQC standardization, the process necessitates an international effort to align technical needs and regulatory expectations. In order to increase vendor and customer confidence in new quantum-safe devices, experts will use the event to discuss interoperability issues and the necessity of a consistent certification process.

In order to ensure that quantum security is directly placed within the context of the next-generation networks and telecommunications infrastructure it is meant to defend, the symposium’s strategic co-location with the Upperside World Congress is essential. This connection guarantees that infrastructure suppliers and network operators are actively participating in the deployment of solutions in addition to being aware of the quantum danger.

The event, which is scheduled to take place in the Auditorium Havana of the Palais des Congrès from 12:00 to 18:00 CET, will be streamed live to reach as many people as possible worldwide. Members of QSECDEF will receive preferential rates. Therefore, the Quantum Security & Defense World Symposium is being positioned as more than just a conference; it is an urgent call to action and a crucial checkpoint in the worldwide struggle to defend the future of information against a defining, quickly arriving threat.
