ORCA & SiC Systems Inc Reveal Quantum-Powered EPC Future

ORCA Computing and SiC Systems have signed a strategic agreement to incorporate hybrid quantum–classical computing into chemical and biomanufacturing facility design, control, and maintenance, transforming industrial engineering. First time quantum computing is integrated into industrial agentic AI systems for process design and operation, this alliance marks a turning point in industrial technology.

A New phase for Industrial Design

The collaboration addresses the urgent need to study and optimize complex biological and chemical processes as manufacturing sectors strive for efficiency and scalability. High-latency iterative modeling and multi-scale simulations are currently problems for the traditional Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) sector, which is expected to witness $1 trillion in plant design and construction over the next 10 years. These conventional approaches frequently lead to constrained flexibility during real manufacturing operations and postponed project schedules.

The innovative approach combines ORCA’s photonic quantum processors with SiC Systems‘ “SiC Suite” to challenge the status quo. Through this integration, a high-performance computing (HPC) framework powered by model-based agentic “hives” and autonomous agentic AI processes is created. The collaboration makes it possible to take a more advanced approach to process simulation and adaptive control by going beyond conventional GPU-driven capabilities.

Quantifiable Gains in Engineering Efficiency

This technology’s effects are more than just theoretical. Dr. Christopher Savoie, Co-Founder and CEO of SiC Systems, claims that engineering teams can significantly save the time needed to develop new facilities by including quantum-accelerated computing into their agentic AI platform. The SiC Suite has already shown that it can save more than 20,000 hours of engineering effort in a standard new chemical or biological plant project.

These savings are made possible by improving physics-informed simulations, automating repetitive operations, and reducing uncertainties during the scale-up phase. Dr. Savoie stated, “We are enabling engineering teams to expedite the development of new chemical and biological plants by integrating quantum-accelerated computing with our agentic AI platform. This integration not only expands upon the savings that have already been demonstrated, but also provides greater accuracy and resilience.”

Bridging Quantum Data and Classical Models

The hybrid nature of the computer framework is a crucial element of this partnership. The method can capture intricate interactions in chemical and biological systems that are infamously challenging for classical computers to simulate on their own by combining quantum-generated data with classical AI models.

The fundamental shift this represents was emphasized by Per Nyberg, Chief Commercial Officer at ORCA Computing, “By incorporating quantum computing into models that are based on real-world systems, we can capture intricate interactions that are challenging to simulate classically, thereby enhancing the accuracy of both operational and design decision-making in dynamic industrial environments.” The ongoing monitoring and real-time responsiveness needed in contemporary manufacturing depend on this high-fidelity simulation.

Award-Winning Foundations

The collaboration is based on acknowledged quality. ORCA Computing and SiC Systems won the 2025 HPC Innovation Excellence Award from Hyperion Research for their work with DTU and Novo Nordisk. As the first quantum computing solution to get this award, their collaboration had great scientific and economic potential.

Dr. Seyed Soheil Mansouri, Co-Founder and Chief Scientist of SiC Systems, emphasized the practical applications of their physics-informed platform, “Our platform… addresses the multi-scale complexities of plant design, delivering substantial engineering time savings and enabling the rapid deployment of safe, efficient, domestic production facilities”.

Expanding the Quantum Footprint

SiC and ORCA’s partnership is a part of a larger movement to apply quantum solutions to heavy industry. Through a collaboration with bp, ORCA Computing has already made a name for itself in the energy industry by investigating molecular structures using generative adversarial network (GAN) algorithms. Finding low-energy conformations for hydrocarbon molecules was the main goal of that effort, which is essential for the creation of novel materials and biofuel.

The SiC-ORCA alliance offers a complete toolkit for companies seeking to shorten time-to-market and scale intricate operations internationally by expanding these quantum capabilities into the field of agentic AI. The combined solution is intended to support a facility’s original development as well as its continuous operational performance, guaranteeing that the future generation of industrial facilities is both inventive and efficient.
