IonQ shows Quantum Innovations at IEFA World Strategic Forum

IonQ Presents the Next Trapped-Ion Quantum Computing Generation, Promoting Innovation Before the World Strategic Forum

World Strategic Forum

While showcasing its developments in quantum computing, networking, and sensing at the 14th annual World Strategic Forum (WSF) in Coral Gables, Florida, IonQ, Inc.—dubbed the world’s leading quantum company—is speeding up its technological roadmap and emphasizing how quantum technology is poised to unlock new economic value and enhance national resilience. Recently released quantum computers, IonQ Forte and IonQ Forte Enterprise, offer scalable and affordable quantum solutions.

On November 24–25, 2025, the International Economic Forum of the Americas (IEFA) will organise the World Strategic Forum at the Loews Coral Gables Hotel on “Driving Prosperity Through Innovation.” With Chairman and CEO Niccolo de Masi providing an Executive Conversation Keynote Address, IonQ leaders will shine. Two seminars will include Jamil Abo-Shaeer, CEO and co-founder of Vector Atomic, an IonQ firm, on “Decoding Quantum: A Conversation on the Next Tech Revolution.” Quantum computing and high-impact industries will be featured during the Forum.

Forte: Outlining the Current State of the Art

The most recent development towards a software-configurable quantum computer is the IonQ Forte, which has been on the market since 2022. It enables qubit and gate configurations to be customized to meet particular user requirements, resulting in a really dynamic and adaptable system. IonQ’s Forte is its most powerful machine to date and its biggest single-core quantum processor.

The Forte Enterprise system, designed for data centers, features 36 Algorithmic Qubits (#AQ) and 36 physical qubits. Because it gauges a quantum computer’s use and worth to a company, the #AQ metric is essential. The system’s high-quality qubits are indicated by the #AQ’s proximity to the qubit count. For example, with a #AQ of 36 and adjustable error mitigation, users can effectively execute quantum algorithms with up to 36 qubits and about 980 entangling gates.

Metrics for Accuracy and Performance

A feature of trapped ion technology, the Forte system’s performance is distinguished by exceptionally low error rates. The Clifford Randomized Benchmarking 1-Qubit Gate Error is 0.02%, or two parts in ten thousand. Direct Randomized Benchmarking measures a 0.4% 2-qubit gate error, or 40 parts per 10,000. Additionally, the average SPAM (State Preparation and Measurement) error is 0.5%. For comparison, the new Barium technology from IonQ may attain an even lower SPAM error of roughly four in ten thousand. T1 and T2 timings, which quantify how long a qubit stays distinct (one vs. zero) and its phase coherence, respectively, quantify qubit lifetime. These periods are stated in the range of 10–100s, or approximately 1s for Forte.

Production Readiness and the Benefits of Trapped Ions

With complete software configurability, the Forte technology marks a major advancement in trapped ion design. In contrast to other quantum approaches, IonQ expects that the inherent benefits of trapped ion technology provide a clear route to error correction, which will need fewer total qubits.

This technique offers several important benefits, such as:

  • Ion qubits have attained the lowest gate error rate of any quantum technology, resulting in the highest gate fidelity.
  • All-to-all connectivity allows all qubits to immediately entangle.
  • Among quantum technologies, ion qubits have the longest coherence durations.

The Forte Enterprise edition is especially made for hybrid workflows and production readiness. It achieves IonQ’s roadmap goal of system miniaturisation and modularity by integrating into the data centre with a rack mountable form factor.

Real-World Effects and Future Objectives

Forte is being used for intricate, sector-relevant applications. The largest variational optimization problem executed on a Quantum Processing Unit (QPU) was demonstrated by using Forte in conjunction with Airbus to create quantum solutions for limited optimization issues applied to cargo loading.

Quantum Copulas for better risk assessment, Generative Quantum Machine Learning for banking, and Hyundai’s Machine Learning Image Recognition program are some more important uses. Customers and partners that have already used IonQ systems to reach 20x performance improvements include Amazon Web Services, AstraZeneca, and NVIDIA.

Forte can be used by researchers and early access partners to solve challenging issues including hybrid machine learning models, multivariate financial models, and chemistry simulations. With the help of IonQ’s quantum scientists and developers, users can access these highly sought-after, high-performing systems through the IonQ Quantum Cloud.

With the bold objective of providing the most potent quantum computers in the world with 2 million qubits by 2030, IonQ is advancing its technology roadmap. By achieving 99.99% two-qubit gate fidelity in 2025, the company has set a new global record for quantum computing performance. IonQ is positioned as a leader in both computing power and the construction of the quantum internet thanks to these hardware developments and its breakthroughs in quantum networking. All of the main cloud service providers provide IonQ’s technology, making quantum technology more widely available and influential than it has ever been.
