FPT Corporation News Invests $100 Million in Quantum AI

Vietnam’s FPT Commits $100 Million to Quantum AI, Cementing Strategy for Technological Sovereignty

FPT Corporation News

The leading technology company in Vietnam, FPT Corporation, has formally announced a massive $100 million commitment to support its recently established Quantum AI and Cyber Security Research Institute (QACI), marking a significant shift in Southeast Asia’s technological landscape. This investment was revealed as the cornerstone of a five-pronged national strategy to increase R&D. especially to protect Vietnam’s “technological sovereignty” in the face of swift global change.

FPT’s dedication to developing a top-notch staff and mastering essential technologies in direct support of Vietnam’s technical autonomy is shown in this ambitious expansion. FPT is putting itself and Vietnam in a strategic position to move from a regional centre of technology to a major player in deep-tech innovation on a global scale by focusing on cutting-edge industries like quantum computing, artificial intelligence (AI), unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and advanced data platforms.

A New Era of Strategic Leadership and Vision

The creation of the Strategic Technology Steering Committee, an exclusive internal organization entrusted with supervising what is being called the most ambitious technology growth in FPT’s history, coincided with the financial announcement. Dr Truong Gia Binh, the company’s founder and chairman, is spearheading this enormous endeavor as the chair of the Committee, while CEO Nguyen Van Khoa is the Standing Vice Chair. The Committee, which is in charge of directing and supervising the execution of strategic technological directions throughout the entire organization, is also composed of members of the FPT Executive Board.

Dr. Binh stressed that the world is about to enter a time characterized by the profound confluence of digital security and knowledge automation in a statement about the current status of the world. Dr. Binh stated that “AI is automating knowledge, semiconductors are becoming the foundation of every industry, and cyber security defines digital sovereignty,” stating that “quantum technology opens a completely new era of computing” . Dr. Binh emphasised that despite this significant shift in technological power, people continue to be the most precious resource and long-term competitive advantage.

By concentrating on “Vietnamese intelligence,” FPT hopes to solve talent, a crucial bottleneck in the global IT race. Dr. Binh came to the conclusion that FPT will use Vietnamese intelligence and bring together the best tech talent in the country to solve national issues and push the boundaries of technology.

The Five Pillars of Progress: Securing the Digital Future

The five specialized units, or pillars, that make up FPT’s strategy overhaul each focus on a domain that is essential to the contemporary digital economy. One of these important entities is the Quantum AI and Cyber Security Research Institute (QACI), which is the specific recipient of the $100 million investment.

One of the first private Vietnamese companies to establish a quantum research institute was QACI. Professor Ho Tu Bao serves as its scientific director, while Associate Professor Ngo Xuan Bach serves as the institute director. Developing commercial solutions, promoting international partnerships to translate quantum advantages into practical applications, and cultivating top talent through doctoral and advanced expert training programs are all part of QACI’s purpose in addition to basic research. Vietnam won’t be left behind when the next computing paradigm that can break current encryption and solve intricate optimisation issues that traditional computers can’t handle becomes a reality with FPT’s investment in quantum artificial intelligence.

The approach encompasses practical, high-growth industries in addition to the theoretical domain of quantum science:

  1. FPT UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles): FPT has designated CTO Vu Anh Tu to head this division in recognition of the $10 billion global UAV market forecast by 2035. Mastering the “low-altitude economy,” which FPT is already promoting through the Low-Altitude Economy Alliance, is the main objective. FPT has already supported collaboration between the Vietnam AUVS Network (AUVS VN) and the Japan UAS Industry Development Association (JUIDA), so it isn’t starting from scratch in this area.
  2. FPT Railway Mobility Technology (FMT): Under the direction of Pham Minh Tuan, CEO of FPT Software and EVP of FPT Corporation, this division makes use of FPT’s current knowledge in fields such semiconductors, SCADA systems, Internet of Things (IoT), automotive design and manufacture, and automotive software. The goal is to transform railway infrastructure, a safety-critical sector where FPT has a distinct competitive advantage because to its demonstrated worldwide track record of supporting large-scale, round-the-clock systems in sectors like aviation, energy, and oil and gas.
  3. Digital Conglomerate 5.0 (DC5): Under the direction of Pham Duy Phuc, DC5 serves as the company’s engine for data strategy. Its goal is to create a nationwide data platform that maximizes consumer satisfaction and offers useful information, ultimately producing more value at the national level.
  4. FPT Cyber Security: Under the direction of CISO Pham Tung Duong, this division is committed to establishing a safe, independent online environment. With an emphasis on research investment and ecosystem development to ensure a sustainable digital environment, FPT sees cybersecurity as the essential safeguard of state sovereignty in a world of increasingly intense cyberwarfare.

A Direct Response to National Mandates

Throughout FPT’s most recent roadmap, the idea of “technological sovereignty” serves as the central subject. This phrase captures a country’s capacity to create, manage, and safeguard the fundamental technologies required for its economy and security without excessively depending on external forces.

Innovation, digital transformation, and science and technology have all been recognised by the Vietnamese government as key innovations and forces behind a new development paradigm. These initiatives help the nation achieve its goals of becoming a high-income developed country by 2045 and an upper-middle-income developing economy by 2030.

Vietnam’s dedication to technical independence is demonstrated by the designation of 11 national key technology domains, which emphasize their fundamental role in national defense, security, and economic development. In direct response to this national mandate, FPT has committed $100 million, building on its long history of developing cutting-edge technology and providing essential digital infrastructure throughout the economy.

FPT is making use of its current technical strength, which comes from experience in safety-critical industries, even if the path to mastering Quantum AI is arduous because of the specialized surroundings and challenges needed to stabilize quantum systems. By focusing on the “AI” aspect of the study, FPT is probably trying to create “Quantum-Ready” AI algorithms that can operate on current technology while being essentially ready for the impending quantum jump.

FPT’s significant commitment indicates that Vietnam plans to compete primarily on the basis of the caliber of its intellectual capital rather than just as a location for tech outsourcing, while nations like Singapore and Malaysia also step up their aspirations for leadership in AI in Southeast Asia. FPT has firmly transitioned from being a service provider to becoming the architect of Vietnam’s future digital framework with significant investment and a centralized steering committee in charge.
